Leave the skin alone for the first several hours. Cleanse gently with lukewarm water, moisturize with a bland fragrance-free product, and wear SPF 30+ daily — sun protection is the single most important step. Skip retinoids, acids and scrubs for 5–7 days, avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and hot tubs for 48 hours, and hold off on makeup for 24 hours. Don't pick at flaking skin.
