Microneedling uses a sterile, single-use cartridge of very fine needles to create thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin — also called collagen induction therapy. Healing happens in three phases: inflammation (the flushed look right after), proliferation (fibroblasts lay down fresh collagen and elastin over days and weeks) and remodeling (across four to twelve weeks that new collagen matures and tightens, and scar tissue is progressively replaced with better-organized tissue). Because it is purely mechanical — no heat, no light, no acid — it works across a wide range of skin tones.

Best for acne scarring (rolling and boxcar scars respond well), uneven or grainy texture, enlarged-looking pores, fine lines, stretch marks, dullness and older surgical or injury scars. What it does not do is replace volume or lift significantly loose skin — that is a different conversation, and being honest about the boundary is part of a good consultation.

Do: gentle non-foaming cleanser, bland fragrance-free moisturizer, broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily from day two, fresh pillowcase, let flaking shed on its own. Don't: makeup for 24 hours, retinoids or acids for five to seven days, heavy exercise, saunas or pools for 48–72 hours, and never pick. Generally not appropriate with active breakouts in the treatment area, an active cold sore, open wounds, an eczema or psoriasis flare in the area, a history of keloid scarring, certain bleeding or autoimmune conditions, recent isotretinoin use, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
