Thinking about dermal fillers but not sure where to start? At MD Laser Med Spa in Plano, filler plans are quoted at a free consultation rather than from a fixed menu, because the right plan depends on the area, the product and your own features. This guide covers what fillers are generally used for and the questions worth asking before you book.
What dermal fillers are used for
Dermal fillers are injectable gels placed under the skin to add volume or shape. Common areas include:
- Cheeks and midface volume
- Lips, for shape or subtle volume
- Lines around the nose and mouth
- Chin and jawline definition
Many fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a substance the body already produces. Your provider will explain which type fits the area you want to treat and why. Read more on our dermal fillers page.
Fillers vs. Botox
Fillers add volume. Botox relaxes the muscles that cause lines when you move, such as frown lines or crow's feet. They do different jobs, so some plans use one and some use both. Botox has a published per-unit price on our price list; fillers are quoted at your consultation.
Questions to ask at your consultation
- Which areas would you treat, and why? A good plan starts from your goals and your features, not a set package.
- Which product would you use? Ask why that product suits the area, and how long results usually last for it.
- How much product, and what will it cost? You should leave with a clear quote before anything is done.
- What should I expect right after? Ask about swelling, bruising and how long to wait before a big event.
- What happens if I don't like the result? Ask about follow-up visits and what options exist for adjustment.
- Is there any reason I shouldn't have fillers right now? Share your medical history, medications and any upcoming dental work or events.

Timing fillers before an event
Swelling and bruising can take some days to settle. If you have a wedding, photos or travel coming up, book your appointment a few weeks ahead. Our bridal beauty timeline shows how injectables can fit with other treatments.
