Arms are a popular area for laser hair removal in Plano, especially for people who are tired of shaving forearms or dealing with regrowth before short-sleeve season. This guide from MD Laser Med Spa covers how arm sessions are usually planned, how to prepare, what to expect afterward, and where to find our published prices.
How arm laser hair removal works
Laser hair removal uses light energy that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. At our Plano clinic we use the Candela GentleMax Pro, which offers two wavelengths (755 nm Alexandrite and 1064 nm Nd:YAG). Your technician chooses settings for your skin and hair at your consultation. The goal is long-term hair reduction over a series of sessions, not a single visit.
Forearms, upper arms or full arms?
Some people only want the forearms treated, while others prefer the full arm from shoulder to wrist. Tell your provider exactly which part of the arm bothers you most, and whether you also want the underarms or hands included. Your provider will explain which area size applies on the price list before you book, so there are no surprises.
Why a series of sessions?
Hair grows in cycles, and only part of the hair in an area is in an active growth phase at any one time. That is why arm treatment is planned as a package of sessions spaced weeks apart. Your provider will recommend the spacing that fits your hair and your schedule. Results vary from person to person, and some people choose occasional touch-up sessions later on.
Before your appointment
- Shave the area as your provider instructs before your visit. Avoid waxing, plucking, threading or epilating in the weeks before treatment, because the hair root needs to be present.
- Arms see a lot of sun. Avoid tanning, sunburn and self-tanner on the area before your session, and read why recent sun exposure matters before laser hair removal.
- Arrive with clean skin, without lotion or oil on the area, and tell your provider about any new medications or skin products.
After your appointment
- Mild redness or warmth can occur and usually settles on its own. Follow the aftercare instructions your provider gives you.
- Your provider may suggest skipping hot workouts, saunas or hot tubs for a day or two, and using sunscreen on treated skin that will be outdoors.
- Treated hair can take a couple of weeks to shed. Shave between sessions rather than waxing or plucking.
